Barry Flinchbaugh

Barry Flinchbaugh was an American agricultural economist at Kansas State University who became one of the country's most influential voices on farm policy for more than four decades. He earned degrees in animal science and agricultural economics from Pennsylvania State University before completing a doctorate in agricultural economics at Purdue University, and he joined Kansas State in 1971, where he taught agricultural policy and worked as an extension economist. He advised secretaries of agriculture, the chairs of the House and Senate agriculture committees, and lawmakers from both parties, and he was involved to some degree in every United States farm bill written from 1968 until his death in 2020, while also teaching more than 5,000 students who went on to careers in government, agribusiness, and academia.
