Agricultural Economists

Figures whose defining agricultural contribution was scholarly or applied work in agricultural economics: professors, researchers and analysts studying farm economics, agricultural development, food policy and rural economic behavior, most of them career academics or research-institute staff rather than officeholders. It does not include an agricultural economist whose defining public role became holding a ministerial or head-of-agency office (see Agriculture Ministers and Government Officials), even when the office was reached by way of an economics career; the deciding fact is whether research and analysis, or the exercise of government office, is the figure's dominant, defining contribution.
