A bacterial disease of citrus, caused by phloem limited Candidatus Liberibacter species and spread by the Asian and African citrus psyllids, that produces blotchy mottled leaves, lopsided bitter fruit and progressive tree decline with no known cure. Also called citrus greening, it has devastated citrus industries in Florida, Brazil and parts of Asia since the early 2000s and is regarded as the most destructive citrus disease in the world.

Citrus greening disease is a disease of citrus trees caused by bacteria of the genus Liberibacter. These microbes are transmitted by two species of bug: the Asian citrus psyllid Diaphorina citri and the African citrus psyllid Trioza erytreae. It has no known cure. It is graft-transmissible.
