The Mexican research center, formalized in 1966, that grew out of the Rockefeller-Mexico program where Norman Borlaug bred his dwarf wheats. CIMMYT wheat and maize lines are in the pedigrees of a large share of both crops planted worldwide, and its shuttle-breeding method, moving generations between two Mexican stations a season apart, became standard practice.
