The global partnership of agricultural research centers, founded in 1971 to carry the Green Revolution's institution-building forward. CGIAR's network includes IRRI, CIMMYT and a dozen sister centers, and its genebanks hold in trust the largest crop diversity collections in the world. Much of the improved seed planted across the developing world traces to a CGIAR center.
