Henry Charles Taylor

Henry Charles Taylor was an American agricultural economist, an early pioneer in the field who has been called the father of agricultural economics in the United States. He established the first university department dedicated to agricultural economics in the United States in 1909 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and he later had a brief but influential career at the United States Department of Agriculture from 1919 to 1925, where he helped reorganize its offices and became head of the new Bureau of Agricultural Economics. Coming from a rural farm community himself, his foremost goal was always to improve the living conditions of farmers.
