Cyril Sherwood

Cyril Beverly Sherwood, known as Cy Sherwood, was a farmer and political figure in New Brunswick who served as the province's Minister of Agriculture from 1952 to 1960. He represented King's County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick as a Progressive Conservative member from 1952 to 1967, and as minister he helped establish the New Brunswick Cream Producers' Marketing Board and the New Brunswick Milk Producers' Association, and introduced the legislation that created the New Brunswick Milk Marketing Board. He was later named to the Senate of Canada for the Royal division in 1979, serving until 1990. His lifelong contribution to Canadian agriculture, through both private farming and government service, was recognized in 1986 when he was inducted into the Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame.
