Digital agriculture is the use of data-driven digital technologies, satellite and drone imagery, soil and yield sensors, farm management software, and increasingly machine learning, to inform and automate farming decisions at a level of detail and timeliness earlier farming could not achieve. It is closely associated with precision agriculture's field-level input targeting but extends more broadly to whole-farm and supply-chain data systems, and its adoption has been markedly more rapid on large, capital-rich farms than on smallholder operations in lower-income regions.
