Elena Espinosa is a Spanish economist and Socialist politician who served as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from April 2004 to April 2008 under Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, then continued as head of the reorganized Ministry of Environment, Rural Affairs and Marine Resources from 2008 to 2010 once agriculture and environmental responsibilities were merged. Before entering national government she had served as president of the Port Authority of Vigo. She was born in Orense in 1960.
