Carlos Romero Herrera is a Spanish agriculturist and Socialist politician who served as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for nearly nine years, from December 1982 to July 1991, across three legislative terms under Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez, making him the longest-serving agriculture minister of Spain's democratic period. A member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), he was later elected to Congress representing his native Zamora province. He was born in Fuentesauco, Zamora, in 1940.
