The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry is the oldest surviving American agricultural advocacy organization, founded to represent the social and economic interests of farming families and to promote community, cooperative purchasing and education in rural America. It played a major role in the Granger Movement of the 1870s, pressing state legislatures for railroad and grain-elevator rate regulation.
