The American Angus Association is the breed registry for Angus cattle in the United States and Canada, established on 21 November 1883 in Chicago, Illinois as the American Aberdeen-Angus Breeders' Association, with 60 charter members. Headquartered in Saint Joseph, Missouri, it now serves more than 21,000 members and records more cattle each year than any other beef breed association, making it the largest beef breed registry in the world; it operates through subsidiaries including Certified Angus Beef LLC, Angus Genetics Inc, Angus Media and the Angus Foundation.
