Helicotylenchus dihystera, commonly called Steiner's spiral nematode, is a plant-parasitic roundworm in the family Hoplolaimidae, order Tylenchida. It is known to inhabit the root zones of sugarcane, rice, potatoes, corn, peanut, millet, sorghum, banana and forest trees, making it an economically significant pest across a wide range of agricultural and forestry crops. The species carries a long taxonomic history under several earlier Tylenchus and Aphelenchus names, and its populations in cropping systems are managed with soil treatments such as sodium azide.
