Dickeya

Dickeya is a genus of Gram-negative bacteria in the family Pectobacteriaceae, established in 2005 through the reclassification of strains formerly placed in Pectobacterium chrysanthemi and Brenneria paradisiaca, and named for the American plant pathologist Robert S. Dickey. Species in the genus, most notably Dickeya dadantii, are soft rot pathogens isolated from a wide range of hosts including chrysanthemum, pear, rice, sugarcane and potato. The genus now comprises at least thirteen formally described species and is recognized, alongside the related genus Pectobacterium, as one of the more agriculturally significant groups of soft rot bacteria.
