The National Center for Genetic Resources Preservation is a United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, on the Colorado State University campus, that preserves the base collection of the National Plant Germplasm System and researches new preservation technologies for seed and other plant genetic resources. It opened in 1958 as the National Seed Storage Laboratory and was rededicated under its current name on 14 January 2002; it holds more than 450,000 samples of over 10,000 plant species and 1,500 genera, plus a National Animal Germplasm Program collection of beef and dairy cattle and sheep genetic material, making it one of the world's largest gene banks. It now also operates under the name National Laboratory for Genetic Resources Preservation.
