National Government Ministries and Departments

A single country's own ministry, department or statutory agency holding direct governmental authority over agricultural policy, trade, food safety or rural affairs, including the United States Department of Agriculture, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry of Australia, and the agriculture ministries of Brazil, China, France, Germany, India and Japan. Belongs here: any body that is part of a national government's own executive structure with formal authority over agricultural policy in its country. Does not belong here: a national government's dedicated research arm organized as a separate research institute rather than a policy ministry, grouped under National Agricultural Research Institutes, or an industry-funded levy board that serves producers rather than exercising governmental authority, grouped under Producer and Commodity Organizations.
