Sirohi Goat

Sirohi Goat is a goat breed native to the Sirohi district of Rajasthan in northwestern India, a medium-sized, dual-purpose breed raised for both meat and milk across Rajasthan and neighboring states. It has a brown coat typically marked with lighter patches, and is well adapted to the semi-arid climate and sparse grazing conditions of the region, tolerating heat and limited water availability better than many other goat breeds. Sirohi goats are widely kept by smallholder and pastoralist farmers as a source of income and subsistence, valued for reasonably fast growth and adaptability to both grazing and stall-fed management. The breed has also been used in crossbreeding programs in parts of India aimed at improving meat production in local goat populations.
