Carl Barton Huffaker (September 30, 1914 to October 10, 1995) was an American ecologist and agricultural entomologist who spent most of his career, from 1946 to 1984, at the University of California, Berkeley. Early in his career he worked on using DDT to control mosquito populations and on medical entomology in Colombia, Haiti and the Dominican Republic, and he later led the biological control of Klamath weed using the beetle Chrysolina quadrigemina. His 1958 experiment on predator-prey population dynamics in mites became a landmark study in ecology, and he authored influential texts including Theory and Practice of Biological Control and Ecological Entomology. He served as president of the Entomological Society of America and shared the Wolf Prize in Agriculture in 1994 with Perry L. Adkisson.
