Stephen Moulton Babcock, born October 22, 1843, and died July 2, 1931, was an American agricultural chemist best known for developing the Babcock test, a method for determining the butterfat content of milk that transformed dairy processing, and for the single-grain feeding experiment that helped establish nutritional science as a recognized scientific discipline.
