Peter Beyer, born in 1952, is a German professor of cell biology at the University of Freiburg. He is known as the co-inventor, together with Ingo Potrykus of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, of golden rice, the genetically engineered rice biofortified with provitamin A.
