Jorge Dubcovsky is a plant geneticist at the University of California, Davis and an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, whose research focuses on wheat genomics. In 2004 his team identified and cloned the VRN2 gene in winter wheat, which governs how the crop responds to cold weather before it flowers. He was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2013 and shared the Wolf Prize in Agriculture in 2014 with Leif Andersson.
