Ilan Chet is an Israeli microbiologist, born in 1939 in Haifa, who is a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Faculty of Agriculture in Rehovot. He is a pioneer of biological control of plant disease, using environmentally friendly microorganisms rather than chemical pesticides to suppress the pathogens that cause major crop losses, spanning basic, applied and biotechnological aspects of the field across more than 300 published articles and 30 patents.
