Hira Singh Chinaria, born September 17, 1895, and died May 7, 1955, was an Indian agriculturist and politician who conducted research on dry-land farming and wrote several books on cultivation without irrigation. He led the Praja Mandal movement in the princely state of Jind during India's independence struggle and was elected to India's first Lok Sabha in 1952, representing the Mohindergarh constituency; he died in the Lok Sabha chamber in 1955 shortly after finishing a speech on the Hindu Succession Bill, the first sitting member to die in parliament since independence.
