Baldev Singh Dhillon

Baldev Singh Dhillon is an Indian agricultural scientist recognized for his contributions to plant breeding, genetics and plant genetic resources, with particular emphasis on maize breeding. He served as vice chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University from 2011 to 2021, a period in which the institution was ranked second nationally by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in 2017, and earlier held positions as assistant director general at ICAR and director of the National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources. His research career, spanning institutions in Germany, Mexico and the United Kingdom, produced more than 350 published papers and was recognized with India's Padma Shri in 2019 and the Om Prakash Bhasin Award.
