John Reid Wolfskill

John Reid Wolfskill, born in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky, was a nineteenth century California pioneer and agriculturalist credited as the first settler to plant vineyards and fruit trees in the Sacramento Valley, beginning in 1842. He settled near what is now Winters, California, after joining his brother William, and he became known as one of the earliest English-speaking settlers of the area and a founding figure of Solano County agriculture.
