International agriculture applies agricultural management and scientific principles to the problems of global food production and distribution, and studies how agricultural systems differ from country to country. Its coursework spans agricultural economics, comparative agricultural systems, international agribusiness and law, and development economics, alongside the global application of climate, soil, water resource, ecological and environmental study to crop and animal production. The field grew out of the recognition that farming systems, and the constraints farmers face, vary enormously across the regions and economies of the world.
