The White Revolution is the large-scale expansion of milk production and dairy cooperative organization most closely associated with India's Operation Flood program, launched in 1970 under the National Dairy Development Board and its chairman Verghese Kurien, which linked millions of small dairy farmers into a national cooperative marketing network and made India the world's largest milk producer within a few decades. The term is also used more loosely elsewhere for a comparable rapid expansion of a country's dairy sector.
