Electric Motor

Agricultural Transformation, Technology and Extension

An electric motor is a machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy. The cited article says most electric motors operate through the interaction between the magnetic field of the motor and electric current in a wire winding to generate Lorentz force in the form of torque applied on the motor shaft, and that an electric generator is mechanically identical to an electric motor but operates in the reverse direction. For farm implements it names the power of a machine driven from the electricity supply or a battery. Implements recorded in the atlas as electrically powered are grouped under this concept.
