A Swiss breed of dual-purpose cattle, also called the Swiss Fleckvieh, named for the Simmental, the valley of the Simme river in the Bernese Oberland in the Swiss canton of Bern. Simmentals are typically reddish with white markings and are raised for both milk and meat.
