Dajal Cattle

Cattle and Cattle Breeds

The Dajal, also called Dajjal, is a Pakistani breed of large zebuine draught cattle from the Dera Ghazi Khan District of Punjab, named for the town of Dajal, and developed from the mid-1800s when Bhagnari cattle were crossed onto local stock, producing an animal similar to but smaller than the Bhagnari. Mature males weigh about 587 kg and stand 147 cm tall, while females weigh about 400 kg and stand 138 cm, and the breed is used both as draught animals and for meat, with reported milk yields of 750 to 1,000 kg a year. Crossbreeding Dajal cattle with Charolais produces fast-growing beef calves, showing the breed's continued commercial use.
