Brangus

Brangus is an American beef cattle breed developed in the mid twentieth century by crossing Angus cattle with Brahman cattle, aiming to combine Angus carcass quality and calving ease with the Brahman's heat tolerance and resistance to parasites and disease. The breed is typically bred to a fixed proportion of roughly five-eighths Angus and three-eighths Brahman ancestry, a ratio maintained through generations of registered breeding rather than continual crossing. Developed initially in the southern United States, where its heat tolerance suited the region's hot, humid summers, Brangus cattle are now raised across much of the southern and southeastern United States and have been exported to other subtropical cattle-raising countries. A related breed, Red Brangus, carries the same cross but with a red coat color rather than black.
