Blonde d'Aquitaine Cattle

The Blonde d'Aquitaine is a French breed of beef cattle formed in 1962 from three older draught breeds of southwestern France, wheat- or cream-colored fading to a light fawn with paler markings around the eyes and muzzle, white skin, and horns in both sexes. Bulls average about 1,400 kilograms and 165 centimeters tall, cows around 1,050 kilograms and 155 centimeters, and the breed is raised exclusively for beef; it is France's third most numerous beef breed after the Charolais and Limousin. It is found worldwide, with sizeable populations in Europe, Brazil and the Netherlands, and is widely used in crossbreeding, especially with zebu cattle in South America and across Eastern Europe and Oceania.
