Mewari Camel

Mewari Camel is a breed of dromedary camel native to the Mewar region of southern Rajasthan in northwestern India, one of the breeds documented and studied by India's National Research Centre on Camel. It is adapted to the hillier and somewhat less arid terrain of the Mewar region compared with the deep desert breeds of western Rajasthan, and has historically been used by the region's pastoral and agricultural communities for pack transport and general farm work in addition to milk production. Like the other named Rajasthani and Gujarati camel breeds, it reflects the long tradition of regionally distinct camel breeding across India's dry western states, and it remains one of the breeds studied and conserved through organized Indian camel research programs today.
