Bikaneri Camel

Bikaneri Camel is a breed of dromedary camel native to the Bikaner region of Rajasthan in northwestern India, developed and bred for the arid Thar Desert conditions of the region. It is noted among Indian dromedary breeds as a larger animal and a better milk producer than several of the other regional Indian camel breeds, which has made it valued both as a dairy animal for desert pastoral communities and, historically, as a pack and riding camel able to work in harsh desert terrain. Bikaner has long been a center of Indian camel breeding and camel-related institutions, reflecting the breed's close association with the region. The breed remains one of the principal dromedary types kept in Rajasthan today, alongside other regionally named Indian camel breeds developed for similar desert conditions.
