Walter Runciman, 1st Viscount Runciman of Doxford, was a British Liberal and later National Liberal politician, born 19 November 1870 and died 14 November 1949. He served as President of the Board of Education from 1908 to 1911, as President of the Board of Agriculture from 23 October 1911 to 6 August 1914, and as President of the Board of Trade in 1914 to 1916 and again 1931 to 1937. He is particularly remembered for leading a 1938 diplomatic mission to Czechoslovakia that advanced British appeasement policy toward Nazi Germany before the Second World War.
