Thérèse Anne Coffey, Baroness Coffey, born November 18, 1971, is a British politician who represented Suffolk Coastal in Parliament from 2010 to 2024 and became the first female deputy prime minister in British history, serving in that role alongside the post of Health Secretary from September to October 2022 under Liz Truss. She served as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs from October 25, 2022, to November 13, 2023, under Rishi Sunak, having earlier held junior ministerial posts at the same department between 2016 and 2019 and served as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from 2019 to 2022. She was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2024 and entered the House of Lords as a life peer in January 2025.
