Kanaiyalal Maneklal Munshi, known as K. M. Munshi, born December 30, 1887, in Gujarat, and died February 8, 1971, was an Indian independence movement activist, politician and writer celebrated for historical novels including the Patan trilogy, written under the pen name Ghanshyam Vyas. He served as a member of India's Constituent Assembly, as Union Minister of Food and Agriculture from 1950 to 1952, and as Governor of Uttar Pradesh from 1952 to 1957, and founded the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan educational trust in 1938, which grew into a network of schools and academic institutions across India.
