Binay Ranjan Sen (January 1, 1898 to June 12, 1993) was an Indian civil servant and diplomat who served as director-general of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations from 1956 to 1967. He had been relief commissioner during the Bengal famine of 1943, and drew on that experience to build the FAO from a data-gathering bureaucracy into a major force against world hunger. He also served as India's ambassador to the United States from 1951 to 1952 and to Japan from 1955 to 1956.
