Joseph Henry Owusu-Acheampong, born August 23, 1941, and died June 13, 2017, was a Ghanaian politician and agricultural economist who served as Minister for Food and Agriculture from 1998 to 2000, as well as Member of Parliament for Berekum, Regional Secretary for the Brong-Ahafo Region, and Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs. He held a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master of Science in Agricultural Economics from Wye College, and as a founding member of the National Democratic Congress he was regarded as one of Ghana's most revered and astute legislators, credited with helping to build a strong legislative branch able to check the executive.
