Luis Carlos Guedes Pinto is a Brazilian agronomist born in Vera Cruz, Sao Paulo, in 1942, trained at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ) of the University of Sao Paulo, where he earned his degree in 1965 and a doctorate in 1983. He served as the thirteenth president of Brazil's National Supply Company (CONAB) from January 2003 to December 2004, and as Brazil's Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply under President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva from July 2006 to March 2007.
