William James Scully, born February 1, 1883, in Sydney, and died March 19, 1966, in Tamworth, New South Wales, was an Australian Labor politician who represented the New South Wales seat of Gwydir in the House of Representatives from 1937 to 1949. He served as Minister for Commerce from 1941 to 1942 and then as Minister for Commerce and Agriculture from December 22, 1942, to November 1, 1946, under Prime Ministers John Curtin, Frank Forde and Ben Chifley, introducing the Scully Plan in 1942 to guarantee wheat farmers a minimum price of four shillings a bushel, and he chaired the Australian Food Council during his tenure before serving as Vice-President of the Executive Council from 1946 to 1949.
