Sonny Ramaswamy

Sonny Ramaswamy is an Indian-American agricultural scientist whose research on insect physiology and sex pheromones was conducted at universities including Mississippi State and Kansas State before he led the United States National Institute of Food and Agriculture as its director from 2012 to 2018. In that role he directed an agency whose mission is to catalyze transformative discoveries, education and engagement addressing societal agricultural challenges, securing federal funding for research initiatives on climate change, bioenergy, water systems and food security; he authored more than 150 publications and a patent and was elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the Entomological Society of America.
