Malcolm Bligh Turnbull, born October 24, 1954, in Sydney, is an Australian politician and former merchant banker who served as the 29th Prime Minister of Australia from September 15, 2015, to August 24, 2018. He led the Liberal Party twice, from 2008 to 2009 and again from 2015 to 2018, and represented the Sydney seat of Wentworth in Parliament from 2004 to 2018. During the 2017 dual-citizenship crisis that temporarily disqualified Barnaby Joyce from Parliament, Turnbull was sworn in as acting Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources, having earlier served as Minister for the Environment and Water under John Howard and as Minister for Communications under Tony Abbott.
