Simon Crean

Simon Findlay Crean, born February 26, 1949, and died June 25, 2023, was an Australian politician and trade unionist who led the Australian Labor Party and served as leader of the opposition from 2001 to 2003, having represented the electorate of Hotham in parliament from 1990 to 2013. He served as Minister for Primary Industries and Energy from June 4, 1991, to December 23, 1993, under the Hawke and Keating governments, and before entering parliament he had served as president of the Australian Council of Trade Unions from 1985 to 1990. He later held trade and regional development portfolios under the Rudd and Gillard governments.
