Arlindo Porto Neto is a Brazilian administrator, accountant, businessman and politician born in Patos de Minas, Minas Gerais, in 1945. A graduate in business administration from the Federal University of Uberlandia, he served as mayor of Patos de Minas and as lieutenant governor of Minas Gerais before being elected to the Senate for the 1995 to 2003 term. He served as Brazil's Minister of Agriculture and Supply under President Fernando Henrique Cardoso from May 1996 to April 1998, and in 1997, while minister, was admitted by President Cardoso to the Order of Military Merit at the special grade of Grand Officer.
