Kenneth Shaw Wriedt, born July 11, 1927, in Fitzroy, Victoria, and died October 18, 2010, in Hobart, Tasmania, was an Australian Labor politician who served as a senator for Tasmania from 1968 to 1980 and later as Tasmanian Labor leader and opposition leader from 1982 to 1986. He served as Minister for Primary Industry and Agriculture from December 19, 1972, to October 21, 1975, under Prime Minister Gough Whitlam, a term during which he introduced export wool price floors, removed federal butter subsidies and promoted market diversification into Asia and the Middle East, while opposing, unsuccessfully, Whitlam's decision to remove the superphosphate bounty in 1974.
