Jairamdas Daulatram, born July 21, 1891, in Karachi, and died March 1, 1979, in Delhi, was an Indian political leader from Sindh who joined the independence movement after meeting Mahatma Gandhi in 1915 and took part in the Non-cooperation movement, the Salt March, during which he was wounded by police gunfire in Karachi, and the Quit India movement. After independence he served as the first Indian Governor of Bihar from 1947 to 1948, then as Union Minister of Agriculture under Jawaharlal Nehru from January 1948 to May 1950, and subsequently as Governor of Assam from 1950 to 1956.
