Nick Brown

Nicholas Hugh Brown, born June 13, 1950, is a British former politician and trade unionist who represented Newcastle upon Tyne East in Parliament from 1983 to 2024, sitting as a Labour member until his resignation from the party in 2023. He served as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from July 27, 1998, to June 11, 2001, under Tony Blair, a tenure that encompassed several animal health crises, most notably the 2001 foot-and-mouth disease outbreak, which drew both criticism and support depending on the stakeholder.
