David Wright Miliband, born July 15, 1965, is a British former politician who has served as president of the International Rescue Committee since 2013. He was appointed Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on May 5, 2006, succeeding Margaret Beckett, and served until June 28, 2007, when he was promoted to Foreign Secretary, an office he held until 2010. As environment secretary he oversaw climate change becoming a consolidated policy priority and promoted international environmental cooperation, and he was the first British cabinet minister to keep a blog.
