William Gillespie

William Henry Gillespie was a New Zealand politician of the National Party, born 14 August 1893 and died 23 April 1961, who represented the Hurunui electorate in Parliament from 1943 until his death. He served as shadow Minister of Agriculture and Lands while National was in opposition from 1958 to 1960, then was appointed to Cabinet as Minister of Agriculture on 12 December 1960 when the Second National Government took office, a post he held until his death four months later. He chaired the board of Canterbury Agricultural College, now Lincoln University, from 1951 to 1960.
